Quick answer: A Registered Agent receives your Florida LLC’s legal papers, such as lawsuit notices, at a professional office instead of your home. Ours is 997 N Collier Blvd, Suite E, Marco Island, FL 34145, which also serves our Naples customers. We receive documents, notify you, and forward them so you can decide what comes next.
What is a Registered Agent?
Florida requires every LLC to designate a registered agent and a registered office. The agent is the party authorized to receive legal papers on the company’s behalf, and under the Florida Revised Limited Liability Company Act the agent forwards any process, notice, or demand it receives to the company. See Section 605.0113 and Section 48.091 of the Florida Statutes. The registered office is the street address where those papers are delivered, and both appear on your public Sunbiz record.
Why choose a Registered Agent service?
Many small business owners prefer to keep their home address separate from their company’s registered office and have someone else handle the receipt of legal documents.
With Coastal Privacy Group, you have a local team you can call or text at (239) 235-1246. We receive documents, notify you, and forward them to you so you can review them and decide what comes next. You or your attorney remain responsible for any response and deadlines.
What happens when documents are served?
- A process server or other sender delivers the papers to the registered office, in our case 997 N Collier Blvd, Suite E on Marco Island.
- We receive them in the agent’s role.
- We notify you using the contact details on your account and send the documents on to you.
- You review the papers and decide what comes next, with your attorney if you have one.
Registered Agent service covers receiving and passing along your legal papers. It isn’t legal advice. Your principal and mailing addresses on Sunbiz are separate fields, and your business address receives your regular business correspondence.
Why does a local office matter?
Papers are delivered to a physical door. A registered office on Marco Island means your agent is a local team in Collier County that you can call or text. It is also the registered office for customers of NaplesVirtualOffice.com, who pair it with a Naples suite as their business address.
How do you appoint us as your Registered Agent?
Forming a new LLC? Choose a plan that includes Registered Agent service and select free LLC filing at checkout. We use our registered office on your filing, and there’s no additional service charge for the filing. State filing fees still apply. Read how to choose your address before you file.
Already have an LLC and an agent? Sign up first, then file the change with the Division of Corporations through its Update Your Information page or your annual report, using the agent details we give you. Once Sunbiz shows us as your agent, you can end the old arrangement.
What should you keep up to date?
- Your contact details with us. We use the email and phone number on your account to notify you when documents arrive.
- Your annual report. Florida LLCs file each year between January 1 and May 1, a good moment to confirm your agent and addresses are correct. Check Sunbiz for current deadlines.
- Who handles legal papers. Decide in advance who at your company reviews them when we notify you, and who your attorney is.
This guide is general information, not legal advice. Coastal Privacy Group is not a law firm. Filing requirements and agency rules change, so confirm current details with the Florida Division of Corporations or a licensed attorney.
