Quick answer: Choosing your business address before you form a Florida LLC keeps your home out of the public record from the start. On our Business Address + Registered Agent and Portfolio plans, we file your LLC with the State of Florida for you at no additional service charge. State filing fees still apply.
Which addresses become public when you form a Florida LLC?
Your filing and the company record that follows it are public on Sunbiz. Depending on how you file, the record can show:
- The principal address
- The mailing address
- The registered agent’s name and address
- The names and addresses of managers or authorized persons
Annual reports update the same information every year. Many owners use their home address when they’re first getting started, which means anyone who searches the company can find it.
Why decide on an address before you file?
You can update your current record later, but earlier filings stay on file and may keep showing the original address. Choosing a commercial address first keeps your home out of the record from the beginning.
People on Marco Island form LLCs for all kinds of reasons: to hold a rental condo, to run a charter or service business, or to manage a second home. In each case, a separate business address keeps the LLC’s public record apart from your home.
What does the free LLC filing include?
On Business Address + Registered Agent and Portfolio plans, there’s no additional service charge for us to file your LLC with the State of Florida. Select the filing option at checkout and we take care of it for you.
The State of Florida’s own filing fee still applies, and you pay that fee. Current amounts are listed on Sunbiz. For our plan pricing, see the plans.
What order should you do things in?
- Check that your LLC name is available on Sunbiz.
- Sign up for a plan that includes Registered Agent service, and select free LLC filing at checkout.
- Complete USPS Form 1583 and upload your IDs online. No notary appointment or office visit required. Once your setup is approved, your address is ready to use.
- Use your Marco Island suite at 997 N Collier Blvd as the principal and mailing address.
- Use our registered agent details for the agent field. The registered office is 997 N Collier Blvd, Suite E, Marco Island, FL 34145, and we give you the exact agent name during setup.
- After the LLC is formed, handle the rest: your federal tax ID, an operating agreement, and a bank account. Banks set their own address and documentation requirements, so ask yours before you open the account.
Already listed your home address?
You can replace it. The Division of Corporations’ Update Your Information page offers options for changing an entity’s principal or mailing address, a separate option for an officer’s or manager’s address, and annual report updates for businesses formed before January 1 of the current year.
An update replaces the addresses on your current record, and earlier filings may still show the old one. It changes only the Division of Corporations’ records, so other agencies, such as the Florida Department of Revenue and DBPR, have their own update process.
Who should you ask about entity choice and taxes?
Whether an LLC is right for you, how it’s taxed, and what your operating agreement should say are questions for a licensed attorney or CPA. We’re not a law firm. What we can do is make sure the addresses on your filing are the ones you meant to publish.
This guide is general information, not legal advice. Coastal Privacy Group is not a law firm. Filing requirements and agency rules change, so confirm current details with the Florida Division of Corporations or a licensed attorney.
